Greek Peak Mountain Resort Review: Upstate New York Getaway

Greek Peak Mountain Resort is a ski resort, indoor water park, and adventure center located in New York’s Finger Lakes region. Just off I-81 in Cortland, New York you can enjoy downhill skiing and snowboarding facilities with tubing, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, an indoor water park, and a year-round adventure center!

Its family-friendly atmosphere and proximity to other fun attractions in the area make it an incredible weekend getaway destination for adventurous families and couples alike.

Skiing and Snowboarding at Greek Peak Mountain Resort

Greek Peak Mountain Resort is home to 55 trails ranging from beginner to expert (44 slopes & 11 glades!). As the largest ski area in the region, it is a popular destination for those seeking winter  sports activities in the Finger Lakes and Central New York region.

The trail map includes 20 easier trails, 16 more difficult trails, 5 expert trails, and 4 terrain parks. Runs include between 700 and 950 feet of vertical drop from the 2,100-foot summit of Virgil Mountain.

Eight lifts and two magic carpets service a variety of terrain. Three ridges, totaling 220 acres include groomed runs, glades, and terrain parks. Arcadian Gate is Greek’s longest run at 7,920 feet while Olympian is the steepest run at 40 degrees.

The snow for early season riding was great and we thoroughly enjoyed the long, winding green run from the top of the Alcmene Lift. Karyatis Way, to Meadow, to Platonic and Lower Platonic offered multiple runs of snowboarding fun. The best snow on the mountain for early season was on the black diamond, Odyssey.

Luckily, the resort reports over 120 inches of snow annually. Early season conditions are just that, early season conditions! Snow making covers 80% of Greek Peak Mountain Resort’s skiable acres and now features new equipment; if it’s cold enough, the resort is  confident that it will be able to offer well over 100 days of skiing this season!
